One thing I can say this year has taught me, is to be true to yourself. Sometimes in the mist of the chaos, you have to tune out the noise on the outside, close your eyes, and get tuned inward to see the power you have inside of yourself. Sure wearing makeup is great. Getting you nails done can be a fun experience. Who wouldn’t want to be that girl who stopped traffic just for her? But what about the inside? What pain are you hiding? Is it trauma?abuse?jealousy?anger?bitterness?betrayal? We tend to mask up our pain when we’re hurting.
Sometimes you may not know who you are, so you put on a mask to be like someone else. There’s nothing wrong with getting facials, wearing makeup and shopping for clothes, but don’t forget to nurture your inner soul. That’s when the beauty from the inside illuminates through the outside. 💋
Ok ladies, so let me tell you ladies, why you want to level up your skincare. By investing a few more dollars into higher quality skincare product, you get better results in a short amount of time. I tested this out several months ago, when I decided to switch my drugstore skincare products, for the ones that may be a bit more on the pricier side. Yes, it may be a tad expensive, but the ultimate payoff of seeing how well your face looks afterwards, is worth it. For example: The time I’ve decided to use Glow Recipe Skincare products from Sephora. I’m going to try to stay on track, because I am OBSESSED with Sephora. I mean when I say, I am in love with that store, I do mean, I am in love with that store. Whenever I would walk around in the mall, I’d get distracted. Hey! I can’t help sometimes. They do have some pretty good deals there. Thank God for the Sephora App. But let’s focus here. The next time you are at the mall, or doing some shopping online, just try out some skincare from Glow Recipe. I’m so serious. The prices are affordable, and the results are fast. Every time I’d wash my face with the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser, my facial breakouts slow down. Like, I don’t get as many breakouts as I use to. Plus my skin would be more plump. Now I haven’t used their toner yet, but I am willing to try one day soon. However, you can use whatever facial toner you wish after your face is patted dry. Next, if you have acne scars, you want to apply their Pineapple-C Bright Serum. When I tell this serum will fade away acne scars, like no body’s business, it’ll do the job, honey. Trust me when I tell you. You’ll have your own personal glow up. Now for the eyes, you want to use their Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask, that has your eyes looking healthy, youthful and refreshed. Honey, what bags? Tired, where? Lol Plus Glow Recipe has moisturizers you can try afterwards if you like. Just try them yourself. Plus, come on. You know at Sephora you can stack up on those beauty points. Also, please do not forget to drink your water, take your vitamins, invest in good exercise, mediation, and a health diet. You’ll be amazed what investing in yourself to that degree can do for your skin. I hope this was helpful to someone and that everyone stay well and highly prosperous. Until the the next blog post. Take care. 💋
Seriously. Love who you are. Never try to be a copy of anyone else. Is it okay to be inspired by other people? Yes. What’s not okay, is comparing who you are, to that person. Because what happens after that is, you loose yourself and who you are, in the process. That robs you of your originality, and in some cases, genuine relationships. When you try to be someone else, believe it or not, other people can see it. So you’re not fooling anyone when you do this. Oh yeah, and when you’re out there in the dating world, men can tell. No matter the age, race, income, they all can tell. Men know when they are talking to a mask or she’ll of a person. You may think you can get away with it, but that’s far from true. These guys know how to play it off. Lol But that’s another blog post.
While you’re busy trying to make yourself into someone else, you rob this world from the real you. No, I’m not referring to those of you who haven’t brushed your teeth, showered and had your hair undone. Nope, see that is… Well I don’t know what that is, but my point is, be the very best version of yourself and show that off, unapologetically. If your hair is kinky, thick and curly, girl, love your hair! Your hair is just as beautiful as anyone else’s. Plus you can manipulate it into looking however you want. Make sure to make your hair look well and shiny. Whether it’s in locs, braids, a twist out, TWA, or any other style you choose. You want to be the best version of yourself. Now if you wear wigs, don’t neglect your hair. Make sure it’s well taken care of. Make sure it’s clean, conditioned and moisturized and detangled well (in a protective style). Do not forget to take care of your edges. There are oils that can help just in case you have lost your edges over the years. You want to take care of your natural hair underneath, so when you want to take a break from wearing your wig, you can show off your natural hair at its glory.
In closing, I would like to say this. People will say all types of things about you, whether they are good or bad. You can be a virgin, and people will still call you a whore. You could come from a certain background, and people will still try to put you in a box. You could try to turn your life around, and people will still talk about the person you was before, or worse, make horrible assumptions about you based on your past. However, regardless of what they think, you are not defined based on what other people say about you. You’ll be amazed that the same people talking down towards you, or being nice nasty towards you, will be the same ones you see copying you and in some ways trying to look like you. So, I say all that to say, just be you. Love yourself for who you are. Until the next blog post, be unapologetically you and rock that to the fullest. ❤️
Hey ladies, I want you to know, if you have went through any pain, trauma or abuse of any kind, I just want you to know that you are not defined by your past. This same thing goes for you if you’re a single mother. That’s not all you are. You’re more than that. You are a queen. You are intelligent. The mistakes in your past does NOT define you. You can always start over. You just have to believe it is possible and it is. You are worth so much more. Sometimes it may take you looking at yourself in the mirror and saying “God loves you. You are beautiful. You are intelligent,” along with other positive affirmations. Invest in your mental health and self care. Yes, at times it could be pricey, but you are worth the investment. Never stop living. If you’re unemployed, it’s never to late to learn new skills from Udemy, or advance your skills by doing volunteer work. You do not need to self medicate by retail therapy. Because what that does, is take care of the outside instead of issues on the inside. How I know? Because I’ve been there. Lol Also sleeping around with multiple men or seeking revenge, does NOT take care of the problem or the pain on the inside. Be honest with yourself and love yourself enough to invest in your mental health. Once your mindset changes, you will see things and yourself so much clearer than before. I hope this helps someone. Remember, you are NOT your mistakes of you past. Your past does NOT define you nor your life. You define it. 💋
Hey ladies, how are you all feeling? I hope everyone is feeling well and are doing mentally well, during this time. So this one goes to my single moms out there. I want you to know, it’s okay to think about yourself and your mental well-being. You’re not bound to become a second class citizen all your life. You have a choice.
Never let anyone treat you as if you are less than, and that you don’t deserve respect. You do. You’re not as stuck as you think you are. If you need a side hustle for extra cash, you can always work your side hustle from home. Don’t have skills? No worries.
Udemy as some good classes that can help you brush up on your skills. Whether it’s getting into Commercial Real Estate, Software Engineering, Web Design, Writing, and more. It’s good to learn new skills, because those can be tools you can use for your new sources of income.
As a single parent, I get it. I know what it’s like when you work so hard and for that work to be unappreciated. To be underpaid and disrespected. But you know what? I’m thankful for those moments, because it taught me how to treat others better, in-spite of that. Some people treat you a certain way because they think you can’t do better. But that’s a lie.
You ARE more that what you do. You are NOT damaged goods. Second, don’t forget to invest in your mental well being. Believe it or not, our children can tell when we are depressed and unhappy. Meditate and find a support group. Treat yourself to something nice. Read an inspirational book. If you don’t have much time, you can do what I do, and listen to an audiobook when you’re cooking, cleaning, or whatever you prefer. Don’t forget to look yourself in the mirror and say “You are loved. You are beautiful. You are amazing. You are intelligent. God loves you. And you Rock!” Love you guys! Until the next blog post. Take care. 😌🙏🏽💖
As a single parent, it doesn’t hurt to spoil yourself. Sometimes, all you need is a good salt bath to relax. Bring your phone. Place it to the counter and play some meditation music or binaural beats. It can be very relaxing. Even if it’s only 10 mins, that’s still fine as well. One thing I realized as a parent, that it is just as important to replenish yourself, as it is your child(ren). Enjoy yourself. Treat yourself well. Love yourself. You deserve it. ☺️🙏🏽❤️ #refreshing #PinkHimalayanSaltBath 🦋 #MommySpaNight 💖
So, let me be the be the first to say that I was NOT big on cooking. I mean… At all. Lol But, during this COVID-19 pandemic, I later found out how therapeutic cooking was. Another thing I’ve learned, was the importance of having a therapist. The reason why I mention this is because of the importance of being mentally strong while going through these crazy times. What got me started was a dish I was craving, which was Shrimp Alfredo. Now mind you, even though my state was opening up, I was not about to go out risk my health, yet alone my family’s health to do that. Um, yeah. No thank you. So I decided to bring the dish home. Problem was, I didn’t know how to cook. So I looked up some recipes on Pinterest and YouTube and found one I liked and decided to do it. I wish I could tell you guys that I felt scared, anxious and intimidated, but honey, the truth was… I was freaking hungry…and probably borderline hangry. So it was either jump in and cook this dish… or turn into She-Hulk. Lol I chose to cook. Hey, I’m a small curvy woman, but I love food. Lol Aside from that, I’ve learned how cooking can also help with anxiety. The aroma from cooking also comes in handy and at the end, even though it didn’t look like a chef made this dish, I was still very proud of myself. That’s what mattered. I am aware that when it comes to cooking, there is so much about cooking that I don’t know, but I am willing to learn more.
Lastly, I’ve learned about the importance of having healthy relationships with people. Sometimes having toxic relationships can contribute to anxiety, panic attacks, stress, health issues, and mental health issues. I’m blessed to say that I have found my healthy support system. Having healthy relationships with people is so important and adds value to your mental health. Too often people befriend people for the wrong reasons. Some women will befriend another women, JUST to steal what you have, and/or sabotage it. That thing you have, could be a promotion you just got, a happy marriage, a beginning of a courtship, etc. It’s important to invest more time with the people who was always there for you regardless whether you was doing well in life, or not. Look at the character in that person. How do you feel when you’re around them? Do you feel inspired or negative? Are these people influencing you to be the best version of yourself, or are they infecting your soul with toxicity? Just a food for thought… Anyway, I hope this helps someone. Until the next blog post. Take care. 😌🙏🏽💕
Ok so here’s my issue. Ladies if you are on the curvy side, embrace the curves that God gave you. I’ve seen so many women tell me, “This looks good, but I would have to loose a few pounds first.” My thoughts are always, “Why???” I work at a department store, and I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen women cheat themselves from enjoying who they are at the size that they are in the present moment. You miss out on how beautiful you are now. I’ve learned when shopping for clothes, to always embrace the size I’m in at during that present time. Now in my case, I’ve always tried to be thicker. For my Non-African American sistas out there, that’s translation for “Curvy”. Think Kim Kardashian, Ashanti, Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose. You know. Those ladies. Back in the day, I would binge eat, just to try to gain weight and be “slim-thick” to at least get bigger thighs, hips, and booty, but all that eating went right to my lower belly. So people than would ask me, “Are you pregnant?” Smh 🤦🏽♀️ Yeah, not the results I was hoping for. Now for a slim girl, if I eat a lot of fattening foods, then yes, that fat does also go to my butt and thighs, however I’ve learned to just embrace the size that I am. I’ve also learned that whether I wish to gain weight or lose it, to not do it to please men. Do it for yourself. In the meantime, embrace the size that you are. If you’re a size 0,2 or 22 guess what hon, be the BEST size 22 and wear it well by playing up your best assets in your wardrobe. I find it interesting that some slim girls wish to be thick girls and vice versa. Why is that? If you’re trying to loose weight, still play up your best asset. If you’re on the heavy side but you have big girls, show off a little cleavage. If you have curvier legs, show them off. If you have a nice back side, wear clothing that accentuates that as well. Now you don’t want to show off everything in one time, but just one of your assets at a time. Give people a little mystery with a little seduction on the side. You want to work with what you’ve got. Love who you are. Especially during your transition. 💋
